I am an illustrator based in Preston, Lancashire.
Inspired wholly by my adoration of animals, anthropomorphic animals has become a frequent theme within my work. I like to play on the make believe idea of animals being part of the human society and not much different from ourselves. German Expressionist silent films, the Victorian and Edwardian period, the countryside, folklore, and nightmares and dreams also have a part in inspiring my strange work.
The technique I work with within my illustrations is based upon Victorian hand painted photographs. An interest in the method has led me to take elements of the technique and use it in my own individual way. I also dabble with making and stitching by hand children's books. My most favoured book is my version of the fairytale Hansel and Gretel, which I have sold at previous books fairs.
I was born in 1988 and have grown up within the Preston countryside since. After completing a National Diploma in Art and Design at Southport College, I then went on to study Graphic Arts (illustration) at Liverpool John Moores University and gained a BA Honours degree in 2009.
